100 miles, marathons & parkruns
Ally Whitlock, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to be the third woman to finish the Centurion North Downs Way 100-mile race, from Farnham to Ashford. She placed 20th overall, completing the undulating course in 22 hours 26 minutes 55.
Erik Schrijnemaekers ran well to win the Vanguard Way Half-Marathon on Sunday morning, recording 1:42:20. Marc Burrows was second (1:44:49), Martin Filer fifth (1:49:15), Tim Lawlor eighth (1:58:00) and Sam Bay twelfth (2:03:54). Catherine Jarvis was the seventh woman to finish, placing 30th overall (2:27:18).
In the full marathon at the same venue, Kara Boaks ran well to be the third woman to finish, placing 20th overall (4:50:20). Striders’ men were led by Matthew Tremlett who placed 13th (4:37:33). Striders’ other finishers included Kechong Nguyen (5:28:25), Gemma Halliday (5:28:30), Jeremy Tonkin (6:19:54), Keith Murkin (6:20:17), James Harrison (8:09:40), Yasmin Anderson (8:09:41), Kerry Kane (8:09:42) and Elsa Santana (8:09:42).
The final Surrey Road League tables were published this week. Striders’ men did well to place ninth out of 36 clubs, while their women were 18th. Individually, Steve Corfield was second in the M55 category, Tatsuya Okamoto was third in the M35 category, and Andy Perks was seventh in the M45 category.
On Saturday morning, Marc Burrows was first out of 136 finishers in the Roding Valley parkrun (19:00). Erik Schrijnemaekers was second out of 274 finishers in the Raphael parkrun in Romford (18:15). Vicki Ledgard was the third woman to finish the Erddig parkrun in Wrexham, placing 23rd overall (23:33). Cindy Siu was the third woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 50th overall (24:54). Simon Ambrosi was fourth out of 161 finishers in the South Norwood parkrun (19:59). Striders had a total of 114 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
