Stiders of Croydon’s women produced some good performances in the local 5K parkruns this weekend. Leading the way was Ally Whitlock who was the first female finisher at the Roundshaw run in a time of 23 minutes and 26 seconds. Krzysztof Klidzia produced a fine run for Striders of Croydon at the Weymouth 10 miles road race, finishing 6th in a time of 61 minutes and 15 seconds. He was also the first veteran runner to finish. At the Great South Run in Portsmouth Martin Filer led the Striders contingent finishing in 64 minutes and
Due to a fixture clash, with both the South of Thames 5 mile race and the Helen Furze mobmatch at Nonsuch parkrun taking place on the same day (26th November), the former race has been dropped from the Sandilands Cup schedule. The cup now becomes the best ‘6 out of 10 races’.

Striders of Croydon produced an excellent team performance to gain a convincing win in their first Surrey Division Three match of the season, at Wimbledon Common on Saturday. They were led by James Bennett who ran very well to place second, covering the six-mile course in 36 minutes 08 seconds. Phil Coales was fourth (36.50)

James Bennett, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run to place seventh in a field of more than 7000 runners in the Oxford Half-Marathon on Sunday, setting a new Striders club record of 71 minutes 35 seconds.
