Striders of Croydon faced strong opposition in the English National Cross-Country Championships at Bolesworth Castle in Cheshire on Saturday. Their best placing came from Peter Mills who ran well to place 257th in the senior men’s race, completing the twelve-kilometre course in 41 minutes 56. Andy Perks was 947th (51:32) and Luke Burden 987th (52:13).
James Rhodes, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run in the Lee Valley Middle Distance Open Meeting on Wednesday. Striders of Croydon faced strong opposition in their final Surrey Cross-Country League matches of the season on Saturday. Their women placed seventh in their Division Two match at Morden, and were ninth in the final Division Two table. The ninth annual ‘mob match’ between Croydon Harriers and Striders of Croydon took place on Saturday morning, in conjunction with the South Norwood parkrun. The match saw the highest ever number of finishers for both clubs. The first parkrun finisher was Mike Cummings of Herne Hill (16:48), who was followed by six Croydon Harriers. Phil
