5km’s & parkruns
Andy Perks, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to place first in the M50 age-group, and 17th overall out of 179 finishers, in the Serpentine five-kilometre road race at Hyde Park on Friday. His time of 17 minutes 24 was a new club age-group record. Club colleague Steve Corfield also ran well to place 29th (18:21), while Darren Woods was 94th (21:22).
Striders dominated the Lloyd parkrun on Saturday, providing all of the first five finishers. Lee Flanagan placed first (20:09) with Erik Schrijnemaekers second (20:25), Simon Ambrosi third (20:50), Matthew Stone fourth (20:55) and Thomas Karelis fifth (20:59). Cindy Siu was the first female finisher, placing 40th overall out of 180 finishers (25:09).
Phil Coales was first out of 119 finishers in the Durlston parkrun, near Swanage in Dorset (20:33). In the Riddlesdown parkrun, Martin Filer was third out of 123 finishers (19:25) with Robert Lines fourth (19:31), while Consuelo Kennefick was the third female finisher, placing 20th overall (22:56). Tom Vincent was fifth out of 158 finishers in the South Norwood parkrun (21:20). Striders had a total of 116 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
