95 Finishers at parkrun!
Andrew Aitken, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to place 23rd out of more than 1900 finishers in the Hastings Half-Marathon on Sunday. He completed the undulating course in 78 minutes 57. On the same day, Maria Gabriel was 141st in the Cranleigh 21-mile road race, recording 3 hours 45 minutes 47. In the Veterans AC Indoor Championships at Lee Valley, Lorraine Hunte ran very well to win gold in the W65 60 metres. Her time of 10.87 seconds places her fifth in the British W65 rankings for this season.
On Saturday morning, Consuelo Kennefick ran well to be the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing eleventh overall (23:15). There were third places for Graeme Drysdale in the Crystal Palace parkrun (19:13), Lee Flanagan in the South Norwood parkrun (19:24), Martin Filer in the Tunbridge Wells parkrun (20:14) and Simon Ambrosi in the Lloyd parkrun (20:33). Niamh Vincent was the third woman to finish the Amsterdamse Bos parkrun, placing 14th overall (20:35). Cindy Siu was the third woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 28th overall (25:40). There were fourth places for Stephen Kennefick in the Riddlesdown parkrun (21:30) and John Punt at the Stockley parkrun (21:42), while Ally Whitlock was the fourth woman to finish the Amsterdamse Bos parkrun (21:35). At the Swanley parkrun, 83-year-old Kevin Burnett became the first Strider, and only the 81st person in total, to complete 600 parkruns. Striders had a total of 95 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
On Wednesday, Steve Massey ran well to place second in the M55 age-group, and 27th overall out of 191 finishers, in the RunThrough Chase the Moon 5K at Battersea. He recorded 19 minutes 38. Club colleague Max Veglio was 30th (19:55).
