Debra Bourne completes 100th marathon
Debra Bourne, from Striders of Croydon, completed her 100th marathon at Nottingham on Saturday. In icy conditions, she ran well to place second in the W50 category, recording 3 hours 56 minutes 54 seconds, which was her fastest time of the year. In the Valencia Marathon on Sunday, Striders were led by James Rhodes, who ran 3 hours 09 minutes 10. He was followed by Martin Filer (3:16:51), Ian Campbell (3:50:05) and Michael Joseph (3:59:06).
Krzysztof Klidzia placed first out of 211 finishers at the Folkestone parkrun on Saturday, recording 18 minutes 22. Samuel Hansen placed first out of 207 finishers at the Lloyd parkrun (19:06), while Jenny Rowe was the first woman to finish, placing 30th overall (23:08). Simon Ambrosi was first out of 180 finishers at the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (19:24), while Damian Macenhill was second at the Great Dunmow parkrun (19:04), and Jemma Zakariyyau was the second woman to finish the Crystal Palace parkrun, placing 20th overall (20:36). Amanda Hewett was the first woman to finish the Squerryes Winery parkrun, placing eighth overall (26:34), while Selena Wong was the second woman to finish, placing 12th overall (27:40). Striders had a total of 76 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. In the Sri Chinmoy Grizzly Bear 10-kilometre race at Battersea Park on Saturday, Joseph Ibe ran 40 minutes 43. Club colleague Jennifer Gutteridge ran a personal best 44 minutes 29. In the Serpentine 5K in Hyde Park on Friday, Graeme Drysdale placed fourth in the over-50 category (18:29).
