Peter Johnson sets new club M55 10000 metre record
Peter Johnson, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to place fourth in the M55 age-group in the Veterans AC 10000 metre championships at Wimbledon Park on Wednesday. His time of 41 minutes 16.67 seconds was a Striders age-group record for this distance on the track, being almost 40 seconds faster than the previous record, set by Bob Ewen in 2012.
On Friday evening two Striders completed the Battersea Park five-kilometre road race, with Tatsuya Okamoto placing 122nd (16:57) and Andrew Aitken 123rd (16:58).
On Saturday morning Rachel Lindley again ran well to be the first woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing tenth overall out of 195 finishers (20:56). Niamh Vincent was the second woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 34th overall (24:12). Becky Laurence was the second woman to finish the Brixworth parkrun in Northamptonshire, placing 20th overall (25:09).
For Striders’ men, Marc Burrows ran well to finish first out of 33 runners in the Rouen parkrun (21:15). James Rhodes was third in the South Norwood parkrun (18:26) with Liam Redmond fourth (18:34). Krzysztof Klidzia was third in the Lloyd parkrun (19:12) with Robert Lines fourth (19:34) and Steve Corfield fifth (19:38). Matthew Stone was fourth in the Roundshaw parkrun (18:55), while Christopher Finch was fourth in the Tunbridge Wells parkrun (19:31). Striders had a total of 79 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
Mark Lankester ran well to place 30th out of 518 finishers in the Richmond Runfest Marathon. He completed the course in 3 hours 14 minutes 09. Sam O’Dongo was 88th in the Reigate Half-Marathon (1:35:14), with Darren Woods 130th (1:38:44). James Sullivan was 363rd in the Hampton Court Palace Half-Marathon (1:46:37).
