James Rhodes races indoor 800m
James Rhodes, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well in his first track race of the year, in the London Indoor Games at Lee Valley on Sunday. He ran a well-judged tactical race to place fourth in his heat of the 800 metres, recording 2 minutes 08.86 seconds.
Maria Consuelo Kennefick ran well to be the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun on Saturday morning, placing 20th overall (24:30). Striders’ men were led by Sebastian Munday who placed second of the 114 finishers (20:27), while Martin Filer was third (20:31). Selena Wong was the second woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 44th overall (25:21). Striders’ men were led by Matthew Stone who placed fourth (19:50) with Steve Corfield fifth (20:32). Further down the field at Lloyd Park, Alan Dolton became the second member of Striders to complete 500 parkruns, while Michelle Campbell completed her 100th. Third places were achieved by Andrew Aitken in the South Norwood parkrun (18:44) and by Paul Finch in the Roundshaw parkrun (21:08). Susanna Lutman was the third woman to finish the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun, placing 24th overall (28:06) while Yasmin Anderson was the fourth woman to finish the Ifield Mill Pond parkrun, placing 26th overall (26:54). Striders had a total of 84 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
In the Surrey Schools’ Cross-Country Championships at Reigate on Saturday, Christopher Finch was 56th in the intermediate boys’ race while his younger brother Daniel Finch was 64th in the junior boys’ race.
Ellyw Evans was the sixth woman to finish the RunThrough 10-kilometre race at Crystal Palace last Sunday. She placed 30th overall out of 169 finishers, completing the undulating multi-terrain course in 48 minutes 49.
