Surrey Cross-Country League
Striders of Croydon produced some good performances in their penultimate Surrey Cross-Country League matches of the season, at Oxshott on Saturday. Striders’ men placed third in their Division Three match, but remain second in the Division Three table with one match remaining. They were led by Harry Madgwick-Lawton who ran well to place fifth, completing the five-mile course in 28 minutes 30. James Rhodes was tenth (28:55) with Andrew Aitken 13th (29:15), Luke Burden 32nd (30:39), Martin Filer 36th (30:45), Liam Redmond 38th (31:03), Conor O’Hara-Barrett 46th (31:17), Andy Perks 47th (31:18), Tom Gillespie 52nd (31:27) and Simon Ambrosi completing the scoring team in 53rd (31:30).
Striders’ men’s B team placed second in their category, led by Marc Burrows who was 56th (31:44). Matthew Stone was first in the M60 age-group and 61st overall (32:05) while Steve Corfield was second in the M60 age-group and 67th overall (32:30). Erik Schrijnemaekers was 68th (32:36), Jason Gallagher 82nd (33:18), Tim Lawlor 89th (33:48), Simon Webster 102nd (34:32), Mark Nortje 124th (36:15) and Rotimi Oyegunle 174th (59:01).
Striders’ women placed 12th in their Division Two match. They were led by Jennifer Gutteridge who placed 30th (35:04). Ellyw Evans was 44th (36:36), Cindy Siu 84th (39:33), Selena Wong 93rd (40:45), Susanna Lutman 119th (43:42), Linda Jones 131st (45:42) and Ruth Pearson 145th (47:47).
Earlier in the day, Striders had 98 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. Kara Boaks was again the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 12th overall (21:56). Debra Bourne was the first woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 40th overall (26:02). Erik Schrijnemaekers was second in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (20:27). Consuelo Kennefick was the second woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 19th overall (23:24).
