Serpentine 5K
Andrew Aitken, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to place 14th out of 164 finishers in the Serpentine 5K race at Hyde Park on Friday, recording 17 minutes 13. Andy Perks also ran well to place first in the M50 age-group and 28th overall in a personal best of 17:55. Simon Lewis placed 71st (20:04).
On Saturday, Niamh Vincent was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing seventh overall out of 156 finishers (21:36). Striders’ men were led by Conor O’Hara-Barrett who placed third (19:00). In the Lloyd parkrun, Lee Flanagan placed second out of 185 finishers (19:46) while Robert Lines was fourth (20:38). Kara Boaks was the second woman to finish, placing 25th overall (23:51), while Cindy Siu was the fifth woman to finish, placing 39th overall (25:05). Martin Filer was fourth out of 270 finishers in the Riddlesdown parkrun (19:14), while Marc Burrows was sixth (20:24). Andy Perks was fourth out of 69 finishers in the Uckfield parkrun (22:33), while Ruth Pearson was the sixth woman to finish, placing 29th overall (34:30). Ellyw Evans was the sixth woman to finish the Banstead parkrun, placing 43rd overall (23:54). Striders had a total of 100 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
In the RunThrough Hampton Court Palace Half-Marathon on Sunday, Cindy Siu finished in 1 hour 51 minutes 40, and was followed by Bethany Hutchings (1:55:23) and Selena Wong (1:58:06). In the Rome Marathon, Chris Green finished in 4 hours 20 minutes 32.
