Surrey Road League Race 2
Striders of Croydon produced some good performances in the Ranelagh Half-Marathon at Richmond on Sunday. The race incorporated the Surrey Championships and was the second event in this year’s Surrey Road League. Striders were led by Tatsuya Okamoto, who ran very well to place 12th out of 421 finishers (76:46). Lee Flanagan placed 42nd (82:36), while Matthew Stone was 46th overall in a new club M60 record of 83:12. Martin Filer completed the scoring quartet in 77th (87:30). Steve Corfield was 81st (87:37), Erik Schrijnemaekers 90th (88:39), Steve Harris 101st (89:37), Tom Gillespie 120th (92:25), Tim Lawlor 138th (94:15) and Kerim Suruliz 144th (94:40). Charlotte Nusca was the 41st woman to finish, placing 233rd overall (1:45:14), while Cindy Siu was the 61st woman to finish, placing 291st overall (1:54:06). Craig Smith was 248th (1:46:33).
On Saturday morning, Martin Filer placed first out of 155 finishers at the Riddlesdown parkrun (19:23). Andy Perks was second in the Lloyd parkrun (19:13) with Robert Lines third (19:20) and Simon Ambrosi fourth (20:09). Kara Boaks was the second woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 16th overall (21:34). Peter Johnson was third in the Zielony Jar parkrun in Poland (21:24). Debra Bourne was the fourth woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 42nd overall (25:40). Striders had a total of 118 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
In the Veterans AC five-mile road running championship, at Battersea on Tuesday, Tatsuya Okamoto ran well to place sixth out of 65 finishers (27:37). On Sunday morning, Zoe Siu was the second female finisher in the Lloyd junior parkrun, placing sixth overall (9:01). Further
