• London Masters Track & Field Championships

    Three runners from Striders of Croydon won gold medals in the London Masters Track & Field Championships, held at Tooting on Saturday. Lorraine Hunte won the W70 100 metres (17.44), while Sarah Allport won the W45 1500 metres (9:06.29). Steve Corfield won the M60 400 metres (61.99) and also won the B 800 metres (2:21.73), placing third overall in the M60 age-group. (The winner, Andrew Ridley of Poole, ran 2:07.45, which was a new world record for the M60 age-group, beating the previous record set by an American in 2011.)

    On Saturday morning, Nathan Robertshaw was first out of 139 finishers in the Riddlesdown parkrun (18:07). Erik Schrijnemaekers was first out of 46 finishers in the Beckton parkrun (18:14). Niamh Vincent was the first woman to finish the Walmer and Deal Seafront parkrun, placing 22nd overall (21:54). Cindy Siu was the first woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 47th overall (25:09). Andrew Aitken was second out of 679 finishers in the Bromley parkrun (17:38). Graham Hansen was second out of 92 finishers in the Ifield Mill Pond parkrun (19:50). Max Veglio was third out of 167 finishers in the Barking parkrun (17:46). Lee Flanagan was fourth out of 215 finishers in the Lloyd parkrun (19:23). Striders had a total of 94 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.

    On Sunday morning, Zoe Siu was the first female finisher in the Lloyd junior parkrun, placing seventh overall (8:57). Striders also had eight finishers in the Vitality Big Half-Marathon, from Tower Bridge to Greenwich. Marc Burrows ran 1:25:16 and was followed by Phil Coales (1:31:40), James Benjamin (1:38:31), Matthew Tremlett (1:40:18), Natalie Ballarin (2:05:41), Georgia Maguire (2:05:41), Mark Kelly (2:07:56) and Steve Tyler (3:23:14).
