• England Masters Indoor Inter-Area Challenge

    Steve Corfield, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well in the England Masters Indoor Inter-Area Challenge at Lee Valley on Sunday. He placed second out of nine runners in the M60 800 metres, recording 2 minutes 22.14 seconds to be the first English finisher, only being beaten by Scottish international Robert McHarg. In the Veterans AC Indoor Championships, held at the same venue, Sandra Francis placed second in the W65 long jump, recording 2.58 metres.

    On Saturday morning, Striders had a total of 106 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. Consuelo Kennefick was the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 13th overall out of 86 finishers (24:20), while Joanna Crompton was the fourth woman to finish, placing 32nd overall (28:26). Charlotte Nusca was the second woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing tenth overall out of 160 finishers (21:46). Cindy Siu was the second woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 25th overall out of 152 finishers (25:10). Kara Boaks was the third woman to finish the Dulwich parkrun, placing 82nd overall out of 686 finishers (20:16). Becky Laurence was the third woman to finish the Ingrebourne Hill parkrun, placing 49th overall out of 223 finishers (23:41). For Striders’ men, Daniel Finch was third out of 64 finishers in the Foots Cray Meadows parkrun (21:30).

    In the Lloyd junior parkrun on Sunday, Zoe Siu was the second female finisher, placing fourth overall (9:03). Her mother Cindy Siu completed the Headcorn Half-Marathon in 1:51:48. Nathan Davies placed 59th out of 248 finishers in the Valentines 10K road race at Chessington (43:00).
