• A week of half-marathons!

    James Rhodes, from Striders of Croydon, ran well to place fourth in a 1500 metre race at Apeldoorn (Netherlands) on Tuesday, which was staged as a rehearsal event for the European Indoor Championships. He recorded 4 minutes 26.77 seconds.

    In the Paddock Wood Half-Marathon on Sunday, Tatsuya Okamoto ran well to place 126th out of more than 1300 finishers (1:18:19). Matthew Stone was fourth in the M60 age-group and 244th overall (1:23:21), while Liam Redmond was 320th (1:26:11). In the Lisbon Half-Marathon, Conor O’Hara-Barrett placed 446th in a very large field (1:23:31). He was followed by Erik Schrijnemaekers (1:27:48), Niamh Vincent (1:29:38), Keith Murkin (1:41:54), John O’Mahony (1:44:34), John O’Neill (1:50:04), Michelle O’Mahony (2:15:32) and Pandie Bronsdon (2:17:30).

    In the RunThrough Battersea Half-Marathon on Saturday, Graeme Drysdale placed second in the M55 age-group and 121st overall out of 1621 finishers (1:27:38). He was followed by Anna O’Sullivan (1:38:27) and Josef Freedman (1:40:16).

    Also on Saturday, Phil Coales ran well to place first out of 89 finishers in the Durlston parkrun in Dorset, completing the hilly course in 20:05. Rachel Lindley was the first woman to finish the Wythenshawe parkrun in Manchester, placing eighth overall out of 318 finishers (20:32). Angela Seesurrun was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 47th overall out of 177 finishers (24:51). Ellyw Evans was the second woman to finish the George parkrun in South Africa, placing 14th overall out of 671 finishers (22:53). Cindy Siu was the second woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 24th overall out of 202 finishers (24:46). Striders had a total of 98 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
