Iain flies to speedy marathon time at Chicago
Chicago Marathon, Chester Marathon, Loch Ness Marathon, Brussels Marathon & parkruns – 6th & 7th October 2012.
Iain Harrison, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to record a personal best of 2 hours 45 minutes 42 seconds in the Chicago Marathon on Sunday. This lifts him to fourth place in Striders’ all-time marathon rankings.
Krzysztof Klidzia also ran well to finish 31st overall, and second in the over-45 age group, in the Chester Marathon. His time of 2 hours 50 minutes 14 seconds was only 24 seconds outside the personal best which he set in London earlier this year. Club colleague Jon Lloyd ran 3 hours 14 minutes 06, while Alistair Price ran 3 hours 43 minutes 21. At the Loch Ness Marathon, Paul Eisenhut ran a personal best 2 hours 59 minutes 38, lifting him to 22nd place in Striders’ all-time rankings. In the Brussels marathon, Nick Kyritsis ran 3 hours 31 minutes 42.
On Saturday Ernie Hann ran well to place second in the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park, covering the muddy five-kilometre course in exactly 20 minutes. Paul Cripps was eighth (21.38) and Geoff Pennells ninth (21.46). Steve Winter was second in the Nonsuch parkrun (18.24) while Richard Lee-Smith was ninth in the Bromley parkrun (19.07) and Nigel Davidson was ninth in the Riddlesdown parkrun (20.41). Striders had a total of 30 finishers in the various local parkruns.
