Brilliant run from Striders’ Iain at Brighton Half
Iain Harrison, from Striders of Croydon, produced an excellent run to finish 15th in a large field in Sunday’s Brighton Half-Marathon. His time of 74 minutes 20 seconds was not only a personal best, but was the fastest time by a Strider for more than 25 years, and lifted him to second place in the club’s all-time rankings. Damian Macenhill also ran well to place 92nd in 81 minutes 59 seconds, eight seconds ahead of club colleague Taylor Huggins. Striders’ first woman was Serena Stracey who ran 92 minutes 20 seconds.
On the previous day, in very windy conditions, Ernie Hann placed second in the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park, covering the very muddy five-kilometre course in 20 minutes 34 seconds. Club secretary Chris Morton was fifth (22.28). Graeme Drysdale was eighth in the Riddlesdown parkrun (22.10), while Justin Macenhill was tenth in the Dulwich parkrun (18.07). Striders had a total of 30 finishers in the various local parkruns.
