Striders’ Krzysztof is top super-vet in Surrey Half Marathon
Krzysztof Klidzia, from Striders of Croydon, celebrated his first race since entering the over-50 age-group with an excellent run in Sunday’s Ranelagh Half-Marathon, which incorporated the Surrey Championship. He was the first over-50 to finish, placing 27th overall out of 701 finishers, and recording 81 minutes 23 seconds. Club colleague Peter Mills also ran well to place 28th in 81 minutes 55, with Justin Macenhill completing the scoring trio in 40th place (85. 11). Chris Morton was 92nd (91.26) and Darren Woods 102nd (92.29). Striders placed fifth in the team event. For Striders’ women, Maggie Statham ran well to place second in the over-60 women’s category and 153rd overall in 96 minutes 57, while Becky Laurence was 230th in 1 hour 43 minutes 08.
On the previous day Josephine Thompson was the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 14th overall in exactly 21 minutes. Striders had a total of 42 finishers in the various parkruns (26 at Lloyd Park and and 16 at other venues).
