Krzysztof and Phil lead Striders to team win at Lingfield
Striders of Croydon produced a good team performance to win the team prize at the recent Dry Hill 10-mile race, organised by Lingfield Running Club. They were led by veteran Krzysztof Klidzia, who was fifth overall and was the first over-50 to finish, recording 63 minutes 46 seconds. Phil Coales was close behind in sixth place (64.11) with Martin Filer 14th (71.00) and Andy Perks 21st (73.38). Striders’ women were led by Steph Upton who was the fifth woman to finish, placing 34th overall in 78 minutes 38.
Striders’ veteran Nick Kyritsis was 77th overall, and third in the over-60 category, in the Kent Coastal Marathon, recording 3 hours 57 minutes 31 seconds. This was his 234th marathon.
Striders’ women placed ninth in their category in the Will Bolton Cross-Country Relays at Sparrows Den. Their fastest leg came from Steph Upton (18.24), followed by Rosie Gibbons (18.32) and Becky Laurence (18.50). Striders’ men could not match their women’s performance and finished 23rd, with their fastest runners being Taric Matticks (16.04) and Graeme Drysdale (16.15).
Lee Flanagan was third in Saturday’s parkrun in Lloyd Park, recording 18 minutes 31, while Graeme Drysdale was third in the Riddlesdown parkrun (19.08). Striders had a total of 41 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (18 at Lloyd Park and 23 at other venues).
