Peter and Becky lead Striders at memorial race
Striders of Croydon produced a very good team performance to win the second annual Helen Furze Memorial Mobmatch against Wimbledon Windmilers, held in conjunction with the weekly parkrun at Nonsuch Park on Saturday. Striders had an impressive total of 42 finishers, while Windmilers could only muster 26. Striders were again led by Peter Mills, who had another very good run to finish second in 17 minutes 05. Veteran Krzysztof Klidzia also ran well to place ninth overall and first in the over-50 category, recording 18 minutes 31. Taric Matticks was 13th (18.59), Greg Williams 16th (19.11), Graeme Drysdale 18th (19.30), Simon Pannell 21st (19.38), Dave Shaw 22nd (19.39) and Paul Finch 28th (19.52). Striders’ women were again led by Becky Laurence, who was the sixth woman to finish, recording exactly 22 minutes. Steph Upton was eighth (22.17), Debra Bourne 17th (23.53), Serena Stracey 29th (25.15), Michelle Campbell 32nd (25.35), Linda Daniel 41st (26.22) and Selena Wong 49th (27.02).
