Peter and Krzysztof update the Striders records with speedy Half Marathons at Wokingham
Peter Mills, from Striders of Croydon, continued his good recent form with another very good run in the Wokingham Half-Marathon on Sunday. In a high-quality field, he placed 28th out of more than 2000 finishers, recording a new personal best of 73 minutes 18 seconds, which lifts him to third place in Striders’ all-time club rankings. Club colleague Krzysztof Klidzia also ran well to place second in the over-50 category and 105th overall in a new club over-50 record of 79 minutes 03 seconds. Tyler O’Callaghan was 128th (79.49) and Michael Stewart 223rd (84.24). At the Tunbridge Wells Half-Marathon, Striders were led by Darren Woods who placed 172nd (92.46).
On the previous day, Simon Ambrosi ran well to win the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park, covering the muddy five-kilometre course in 19 minutes 46. Selena Wong was the third woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 31st overall (25.59). Justin Macenhill was sixth in the Crystal Palace parkrun (18.41), while Graeme Drysdale was sixth in the Bromley parkrun (19.04). Striders had a total of 51 finishers in the various local parkruns (19 at Lloyd Park and 32 at other venues).
