Striders extend their lead in XC league at Epsom
Striders of Croydon produced an excellent team performance to win their second successive Surrey Cross-Country League Division Three match at Epsom on Saturday, and extend their lead at the top of the Division Three table. Striders had the first three finishers with James Bennett winning the race, completing the five-mile course in 27 minutes 26. Peter Mills also ran well to place second (27.43) with Simone Luciani third (28.31). Steve Starvis placed ninth (29.34), one place ahead of team manager Krzysztof Klidzia who recorded the same time and was the first over-50 to finish. Phil Coales was 16th (29.50) with Rob Lines 18th (30.03), Lee Flanagan 22nd (30.24), Simon Ambrosi 27th (30.40) and Matt Stone completing the scoring team in 52nd (32.15). Striders also had an impressive total of 17 non-scorers.
Rachel Lindley ran well to be the first woman to finish the Cambridge parkrun, finishing 23rd overall and completing the five-kilometre course in 20 minutes 01. Striders had a total of 41 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
