Darren Woods leads Striders at Wokingham HM
Striders of Croydon produced some good performances in the Wokingham Half-Marathon on Sunday. They were led by Darren Woods who ran a personal best 84 minutes 18 seconds. There were also personal bests for Luke Burden (86.50), Becky Laurence (97.48) and Nikki Javan (98.08). Striders’ best age-grading was achieved by veteran Chris Morton, who ran 93 minutes 46.
Steve Starvis placed second out of 149 finishers in the Catterick parkrun on Saturday, recording 20 minutes 12 seconds. Tatsuya Okamoto was third in the Riddlesdown parkrun (17.54) with Alastair Falconer fourth (18.48). Simon Ambrosi was fourth in the Lloyd parkrun (19.47), while Lucy Finch was the fourth woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 39th overall (23.25). Striders had a total of 60 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (24 at Lloyd Park and 36 at other venues). In the Ashby Mile, organised by Croydon Harriers at Croydon Arena, Lorraine Hunte set a Striders W60 record of 7 minutes 31.6 seconds.
This Saturday (24th) Striders have several competitors in the National Cross-Country Championships at Parliament Hill Fields, while on Sunday some of the club’s oldest athletes will be competing in the South of England Masters Indoor Championships, at Lee Valley.
