Adele Boesinger gets PB at Wimbledon Dash 5k
Andrew Aitken, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run in the Perseverance Wimbledon Dash five-kilometre road race on Sunday. The race incorporated the Surrey Championships and was the final event in this year’s Surrey Road League. Andrew placed 19th out of 208 finishers, and fourth in the over-40 category, covering the undulating course in 17 minutes 39 seconds. Andrew Pickering was next home in 72nd place (20:10) with John O’Mahony 75th (20:16) and Lyes Fridi 77th (20:21). Striders’ first woman home was Niamh Vincent who was the 27th woman to finish, placing 102nd overall (21:32). Peter Johnson was 109th (21:49), Adele Boesinger 123rd (22:22), Rotimi Oyegunle 129th (22:41), Michelle O’Mahony 130th (22:46), Selena Wong 144th (23:42) and Susanna Lutman 146th (23:51).
On Saturday veteran Krzysztof Klidzia was first out of 213 finishers at the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park (18:43). Club colleague Rachel Lindley, who six days earlier had been the second woman to finish the hilly Vanguard Way Marathon, was the first woman to finish the Stratford-upon-Avon parkrun, placing 11th overall (18:54). There were second places for Graeme Drysdale at Bromley (18:23) and John Punt at Aldenham (21:11), while Becky Laurence was the second woman at Victoria Dock (21:35), Steph Upton was the second woman at Riddlesdown (21:45), and Sophia Sachedina was the second woman at Wyre Forest (23:24). Striders had a total of 68 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
