London Marathon round up – Bill Makuwa leads Striders
Striders of Croydon had an impressive total of 25 finishers in the 39th London Marathon on Sunday. They were led by Bill Makuwa who ran well to finish in 2 hours 56 minutes 40 seconds. Their second finisher was Andy Perks who did very well to record a personal best 2 hours 58 minutes 24. Graeme Drysdale, running his second marathon in 22 days, recorded 3 hours 06 minutes 38. He was followed by Steve Corfield (3:08:38), Dave Shaw (3:14:10), Dave Vinton (3:16:16), Darren Jackson (3:21:44), Lyes Fridi (3:24:40) and Simon Webster (3:29:11).
Striders’ women were led by Niamh Vincent, running her first marathon, who did very well to finish in 3 hours 29 minutes 12 seconds, which placed her 15th in Striders’ all-time women’s rankings. Nikki Javan (3:42:44), Molly Haviland (4:21:03) and Alex Legge (4:46:28) also finished in under five hours. They were followed by Jadwiga Brzask-Makiela (5:03:06), Samantha Kenyon (5:05:37), Aliya Mowl (5:07:31), Michelle Klein (5:17:40) and Cress Davidson (5:21:20).
On the previous day, Samuel Hansen placed first out of 251 finishers in the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park, recording 19 minutes 01. Jenny Rowe was the second woman to finish, placing 26th overall (22:21). Marianne Chua was the first woman to finish the Wetherby parkrun, placing 20th overall (23:27), while Steph Upton was the second woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 31st overall (21:56). Striders had a total of 65 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
