Lee Flanagan first at Lloyd Parkrun
Lee Flanagan, from Striders of Croydon, ran well to come first out of 213 runners in the weekly parkrun at Lloyd Park on Saturday. In damp and windy conditions, he covered the undulating five-kilometre course in 18 minutes 49 seconds. Steph Upton was the second woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 28th overall (22:02). Jemma Zakariyyau was the third woman to finish the Banstead parkrun, placing 16th overall (20:36), while Kara Boaks was the third woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 29th overall (23:12). Graeme Drysdale was fourth in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (19:11). Striders had a total of 84 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
On the following day, Andy Perks placed 20th out of 372 finishers in the Orpington High Elms 10-kilometre race, recording 43 minutes 53 seconds. Darren Woods was 31st in the Bushy Park 10-kilometre race (43:11).
This Sunday (16th), Striders have several runners in the Richmond 10-kilometre road race, which incorporates the Surrey Championships and is the fourth event in this year’s Surrey Road League. Striders’ women are currently fifth of the 36 clubs in the league, while their men are 14th. Individually, Jemma Zakariyyau is equal ninth in the women’s points table.
