Alan and Lorraine set club over-60 mile records
Peter Mills, from Striders of Croydon, was the first runner to finish the Lloyd parkrun on Christmas Eve. He covered the undulating course in 17 minutes 20 seconds, 50 seconds clear of the runner-up. Club colleague Krzysztof Klidzia was third overall and first in the over-50 category (18.56). Steph Upton was the second woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 16th overall (22.08), while Lucy Finch was the third woman home in 25th (23.02).
On Christmas Day Justin Macenhill placed third in the Lloyd parkrun, recording 18 minutes 28, with Klidzia again running well for fourth (18.40). Serena Stracey was the fourth woman to finish, placing 35th overall (23.05). On New Year’s Eve Phil Coales placed third in the parkrun at Brockwell Park, recording 18 minutes 02. Striders had an impressive total of 61 finishers in the various New Year’s Eve parkruns (26 at Lloyd Park and 35 at other venues).
On New Year’s Day Krzysztof Klidzia was fourth in the parkrun at Lloyd Park, recording 18 minutes 44. An hour later he placed fifth in the Roundshaw parkrun (18.36), while Becky Laurence was the fifth woman to finish, placing 54th overall (24.03).
Two of Striders’ oldest runners set club over-60 records at the Ashby Mile, organised by local rivals Croydon Harriers at Croydon Arena. Alan Dolton ran 6.23.7 while Lorraine Hunte ran 7.52.2.
