Alan Dolton third in M60 1500m at Southern Vets Champs
In the Southern Counties Veterans Championships, at Kingsmeadow on Sunday, Striders of Croydon’s middle-distance coach Alan Dolton placed third in the M60 1500 metres, recording 5 minutes 47.59 seconds.
Simon Ambrosi ran well to place second in the weekly parkrun at Lloyd Park on Saturday, recording 18 minutes 37 seconds. Alastair Falconer was second in the Frimley Lodge parkrun (18.15). Steph Upton was the second woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 27th overall (21.52), while Serena Stracey was the second woman to finish the Reigate parkrun, placing 35th overall (21.48). Striders had an impressive total of 64 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (27 at Lloyd Park and 37 at other venues).
Striders had several competitors in the Sevenoaks seven-mile race, held in hot conditions on Bank Holiday Monday. They were led by Andy Perks who ran well to place 26th of the 219 finishers, recording 49 minutes 51. Chris Morton was 35th (52.02), Peter Laurence 45th (53.12), William Pennells 50th (55.02) and Geoff Pennells 51st (55.05).
