Alastair Falconer second at Titchmarsh 10k
Alastair Falconer, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run to place second out of 225 finishers in the Titchmarsh 10 kilometre road race on Sunday. He recorded a personal best of 35 minutes 18 seconds, which lifts him to 25th place in Striders’ all-time club rankings. Meanwhile Darren Woods finished 60th in the Gatwick Half-Marathon in 87 minutes 44. He was followed by Chris Chinnock (1.36:22), Terry Buxton (1.54:18), Karim Akhtar (1.57:05) and Neil McDonough (1.57:26). Carolyn Storey ran the Leeds Half-Marathon in 1 hour 45 minutes 51.
On Saturday Sophia Sachedina was the first woman to finish the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park, placing 49th overall in 23 minutes 40 seconds. Striders’ men were led by Lee Flanagan who finished third in 18 minutes 40. Striders had an impressive total of 73 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (32 at Lloyd Park and 41 at other venues).
