Andrew Aitken third M40 at British Masters MT Champs
Andrew Aitken, from Striders of Croydon, produced a very good run to place third in the M40 category in the British Masters Multi-Terrain Championships, held in conjunction with the annual North Downs 30 kilometre trail race, starting and finishing at Gravesend. He was only four seconds behind the silver medallist, and finished 12th overall, completing the undulating course in 2 hours 9 minutes 15 seconds.
James Bennett also ran very well to place second out of 833 finishers in the Bewl 15-mile race in Sussex, recording 1 hour 28 minutes exactly. Club colleague Krzysztof Klidzia placed 47th overall and third in the over-50 category, recording 1 hour 45 minutes 16 seconds. Meanwhile Stephen Harris finished third in the Jubilee 10-kilometre race at Selsdon, completing the undulating course in 41 minutes 54 seconds.
On Saturday Lee Flanagan ran well to place first out of 289 finishers in the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park, recording 18 minutes 46 seconds. Rachel Lindley was the first woman to finish the Cambridge parkrun, placing 14th overall (18:55). Striders had an impressive total of 71 finishers at the various weekly parkruns (24 at Lloyd Park and 47 at other venues).
