Barns Green Half-Marathon Success
Tatsuya Okamoto ran well to place 15th out of 641 finishers in the Barns Green Half-Marathon on Sunday, completing the undulating course in 83 minutes 02. Before this, he had placed 13th in his heat of the Friday Night 5K road race at Battersea Park, where his time of 16 minutes 18 lifted him to fifth place in Striders’ all-time men’s road rankings.
In the Barns Green 10K on Sunday, Luke Burden ran well to place 13th out of 582 finishers, completing the undulating course in 39 minutes 21. In the Vitality 10K, starting and finishing in Westminster, Graeme Drysdale ran well to place 356th out of more than ten thousand runners (38:14). Erik Schrijnemaekers was 369th (38:23), while Peter Johnson was 599th (40:24). Striders had several other runners, but unfortunately the results of later finishers were not available at the time of writing.
On Saturday morning, Niamh Vincent was the second woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing sixth overall (21:15). Cindy Siu was the second woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 38th overall (24:23), one place ahead of club colleague Debra Bourne (24:37). Consuelo Kennefick was the fourth woman to finish the Dulwich parkrun, placing 85th overall (20:58).
For Striders’ men, Peter Johnson was third in the Bere Island parkrun in County Cork (21:35). There were fourth places for Steve Corfield in the Lloyd parkrun (19:24), Martin Filer in the Riddlesdown parkrun (20:10) and Andy Perks in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (20:57). Striders had a total of 100 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
