• British Masters 5K road running championships

    Striders of Croydon produced some good performances against strong opposition in the British Masters 5K road running championships, at Battersea on Sunday morning. Tatsuya Okamoto ran very well to place second in the M40 age-group (16:19). Striders’ M60 team all ran very well to place third in their team event. Steve Corfield was 12th (17:54) with Graham Hansen 16th (18:47) and Matthew Stone 17th (19:02). In the M35 age-group, Marc Burrows was 11th in a personal best 17:49, while Darren Woods was 14th (20:54).

    In the Serpentine 5K at Hyde Park on Friday, James Rhodes placed 19th out of 243 finishers (17:03) while Andrew Aitken was second in the M45 age-group and 21st overall (17:11). Andy Perks was 66th (18:43) and Graeme Drysdale 90th (19:27). Ellyw Evans was the 24th woman to finish, placing 146th overall (21:29).

    At Battersea on Wednesday evening, Rachel Lindley ran well to be the sixth woman to finish the RunThrough Chase The Moon 10K, placing 61st overall out of 506 finishers (40:39). Peter Johnson was first in the M60 age-group and 68th overall (41:09).

    In the RunThrough Victoria Park Half-Marathon on Sunday, Belinda Carroll was first in the W60 age-group (2:24:24), while Elsa Santana was fourth in the W45 age-group (2:06:31). She was followed by James Harrison (2:08:09) and Jack Woods (2:15:34).

    On Saturday morning, Erik Schrijnemaekers placed second out of 80 finishers in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (19:48). Justin Macenhill placed fourth out of 79 finishers in the Hoblingwell parkrun (21:32). Cindy Siu was the fourth woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 41st overall out of 214 finishers (25:30). Striders had an impressive total of 108 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
