Bill Makuwa, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run to place 60th in a field of more than 6000 runners in the Brighton Marathon on Sunday, completing the course in 2 hours 57 minutes 23 seconds. Striders of Croydon produced a good team performance to win the end-of-season inter-club cross-country match promoted by Croydon Harriers at Lloyd Park on Saturday. Peter Mills, from Striders of Croydon, had another very good run in the National Cross-Country Championship at Donington on Saturday. He placed 153rd of the 1700 finishers, covering the muddy 12-kilometre course in 47 minutes 42 seconds. This is the first time that a Strider has placed in the top 200 in this prestigious event.
