Christmas & New Year
James Rhodes, from Striders of Croydon, ran well in the RunThrough Chase The Moon 10-kilometre road race at Battersea. He placed 15th out of 218 finishers, recording 35 minutes 11. Club colleague Andrew Aitken was first in the M40 age-group and 17th overall (35:29). Michael Sawh was 60th (43:36).
Striders dominated the South Norwood parkrun on Christmas Eve, with the first three male finishers and the first three female finishers. Conor O’Hara-Barrett took first place (19:18) with Simon Ambrosi second (19:25) and Justin Macenhill third (20:24). Niamh Vincent was the first woman to finish, placing ninth overall (21:29). Kara Boaks was the second woman to finish, placing eleventh overall (21:54), while Cindy Siu was the third woman to finish, placing 39th overall (25:01). Consuelo Kennefick was the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing tenth overall (22:24). Marc Burrows was second in the Cyril Curtain Reserve parkrun near Melbourne (20:26).
Niamh Vincent was also the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun on both Christmas Day, placing fifth overall (21:59), and New Year’s Eve, placing ninth overall (21:54). On Christmas Day Kara Boaks was only one place behind her (22:08).
Consuelo Kennefick was the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun on both New Year’s Eve, placing eleventh overall (22:53), and New Year’s Day, placing fourth overall (22:58).
On New Year’s Eve, James Rhodes was second in the South Norwood parkrun (19:31). On New Year’s Day, Cindy Siu was the second woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 18th overall (25:28). Lee Flanagan was third in the Lloyd parkrun (19:35).
In the Serpentine five-kilometre race at Hyde Park on Friday, Liam Redmond placed 52nd (20:01) with Darren Woods 92nd (21:47) and Nikki Javan 97th (22:04).
