Dorking 10-mile road race
Striders of Croydon faced strong competition in the Dorking 10-mile road race on Sunday, which incorporated the Surrey Championships and was the third race in this year’s Surrey Road League. They were led by Tatsuya Okamoto who ran well to place 14th out of 374 finishers, recording 57 minutes 46. Andy Perks was 56th (62:25), Steve Harris 103rd (67:17) and Peter Mills completed the scoring quartet in 119th (68:19). Peter Johnson was ninth in the M55 age-group and 121st overall (68:29). Jason Gallagher was 133rd (69:29), Tim Lawlor 144th (70:28), Rotimi Oyegunle 214th (77:41) and Mick Turner 239th (81:05). Selena Wong was the 73rd woman to finish, placing 307th overall (90:41). David Gunaratnam was 12th in the M65 age-group and 310th overall (91:08).
On Saturday morning, Andrew Aitken finished 181st in a large field in the Stockholm Marathon (2:58:18). Phil Coales was first out of 476 finishers in the Mile End parkrun (17:06). Charlotte Nusca was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 23rd overall out of 176 finishers (22:52). Graeme Drysdale was third out of 65 finishers in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (21:31). James Rhodes was fourth out of 194 finishers in the Haga parkrun in Sweden (18:31). Simon Ambrosi was fourth out of 205 finishers in the Lloyd parkrun (20:01), while Cindy Siu was the fourth woman to finish, placing 35th overall (24:57). Striders had a total of 109 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
In the Serpentine 5K at Hyde Park on Friday, Steve Corfield placed second in the M60 age-group and 48th overall (18:12). Rotimi Oyegunle was 102nd (20:37), while Ellyw Evans was the 13th female finisher, placing 118th overall (21:23). David Hoben was fifth in the M70 age-group, placing 209th overall (34:10).
