Ernie and Iain produce quality wins for Striders
Ernie Hann, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run to win the Selsdon Half-Marathon on Saturday, covering the undulating course in 83 minutes 21 seconds. This was more than six minutes faster than he ran in the same race last year, when he finished second.
Club colleague Iain Harrison showed that he has recovered from the recent Tokyo Marathon by winning the Capital Runners 10-kilometre race in 35 minutes 39 seconds, finishing 55 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
In the Hastings Half-Marathon on Sunday, Matthew Chapman ran very well to finish 49th out of more than 3000 finishers, covering the undulating course in 83 minutes 48 seconds. Striders’ first over-50 was Steve Smith who ran 1 hour 44 minutes 43, while Striders’ first woman was Kate Custis who ran 1 hour 58 minutes 10.
Justin Macenhill ran well to place third out of 47 finishers in the Bromley Veterans five-mile cross-country race on Sunday, recording 35 minutes 18 seconds. Club colleague Chris Morton was fifth (37.09).
Krzysztof Klidzia placed fourth out of 147 finishers in the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park, recording 19 minutes 53 seconds. Striders had a total of 31 finishers in the various local parkruns.
