Ernie and Krzysztof bag first and third places at Hillcrest

Ernie Hann, from Striders of Croydon, won the Hillcrest 10 kilometre race in Warlingham on Sunday, recording 37 minutes 50 seconds. Club colleague Krzysztof Klidzia finished third. On the previous day Krzysztof had finished second in the weekly parkrun at Lloyd Park, recording 18 minutes 40. Striders had a total of 41 finishers in the various local parkruns.

Striders fielded seven teams in the Beckenham Road Relays on Wednesday. Their A team finished eighth out of 83 teams, and was the first mixed-sex team to finish. Iain Harrison ran the first leg in 14 minutes 44 seconds, handing over to Ernie Hann who ran 14 minutes 35 seconds which was Striders’ fastest time of the day. On the final leg Rachel Lindley ran an impressive time of 15 minutes 32 seconds, which was the second fastest women’s time of the day, beaten only by Dulwich’s international Claire Elms.

Steph Upton and Alice Ewen both had good runs in a very hilly 14 kilometre trail race at Moieciu de Sus in Romania. Steph was the eighth woman to finish, and third in the over-40 category, recording 89 minutes 08 seconds. Alice was the ninth woman to finish, in 91 minutes 29 seconds.
