Ernie and Krzysztof lead Striders to win in busy weekend
Striders of Croydon did well to win the team event in the High Elms 10 kilometre race, organised by Orpington Road Runners, on Sunday. Ernie Hann ran very well to place third out of 316 finishers, covering the undulating course in 39 minutes 57 seconds. Krzysztof Klidzia was sixth overall and first in the over-40 category, recording 40 minutes 41. Graeme Drysdale was 26th (45.14) and Chris Morton 28th (46.21). Striders’ women were led by Selena Wong who was the 24th woman to finish, recording 57 minutes 22.
On the previous day Striders had three of the first four finishers at the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park on Saturday. Ernie Hann led them home in second place (18.18) with Lee Flanagan third (18.26) and Krzysztof Klidzia fourth (18.28). Striders had a total of 40 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
Meanwhile James Bennett placed eighth in a large field in the Southend Half-Marathon, recording a personal best of 80 minutes 13 seconds.
