Ernie leads Striders to mobmatch win
Striders of Croydon produced a very good team performance to win their mobmatch against Blackheath & Bromley, held in conjunction with the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park on Saturday. Striders had an impressive total of 47 runners, and had 27 finishers in under 24 minutes, compared with only 12 from Blackheath. Striders were led by Ernie Hann who placed second, covering the undulating five-kilometre course in 18 minutes 07 seconds. Lee Flanagan was fourth (18.38), Krzysztof Klidzia fifth (18.43) and Simon Ambrosi seventh (19.13). Striders had three of the first seven women to finish, with Steph Upton placing second (23.03), Zoe Williams third (24.27) and Selena Wong seventh (25.39).
In the Southern Counties Veterans Championships, held in hot conditions at Lee Valley on Sunday, Alan Dolton placed second in the over-55 5000 metres in 20 minutes 51.04 seconds.
