Great performances from Striders at parkrun
Marc Burrows, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to finish first in the Fontainebleau parkrun in France on Saturday morning, recording 21 minutes 29 seconds. Matthew Stone also ran very well to place third in the Lloyd parkrun (19:16), while third places were also achieved by Rob Sharpe in the Riddlesdown parkrun (20:12) and by Simon Ambrosi in the Linford Wood parkrun in Milton Keynes (20:18). Conor O’Hara-Barrett was fourth in the South Norwood parkrun (19:53). Striders’ fastest time was recorded by Samuel Hansen, who was fifth in the Town Moor parkrun in Newcastle upon Tyne (17:05). The club’s best female placing came from Lauren Cotton-Walkington, who was the seventh woman to finish the Cleethorpes parkrun (24:14). Striders had a total of 89 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
Two Striders competed in the 800 metres in the Blackheath & Bromley Open Meeting at Norman Park on Friday evening. Their fastest time came from James Rhodes who placed seventh in the first heat, recording 2 minutes 08.17 seconds. Club colleague Joseph Ibe placed second in the third heat (2:21.91).
