Husband and wife Greg and Zoe help Striders in cross country races
Striders of Croydon faced strong opposition in their first Surrey Cross-Country Division Two match of the season, at Richmond Park on Saturday. They were led by Iain Harrison who ran well to place 11th of the 157 finishers, recording 29 minutes 26. Lee Flanagan also ran well for 18th (29.58) with Matt Smith 27th (30.29), Ernie Hann 35th (30.41) and Damian Macenhill 39th (30.55). Damian’s brother Justin Macenhill was 51st (31.50) with Richard Lee-Smith 54th (32.03), Taylor Huggins 70th (32.48), Simon Ambrosi 74th (32.59) and Greg Williams completing the scoring team in 88th (33.29). Striders also had eight non-scorers. The team finished fifth of the nine competing clubs.
Meanwhile Striders’ women were competing in their Division Two match at Lightwater. They were led by the improving Zoe Williams who ran well to finish 40th of the 146 finishers, covering the four-mile course in 29 minutes 40. Alice Ewen was 75th (32.08) with Becky Laurence 76th (32.10), Linda Daniel 94th (34.04) and Steph Moss 99th (34.29). They were 15th in the team event.
