Iain, Justin and Ernie lead the way for Striders
Iain Harrison, from Striders of Croydon, made the long journey to Japan to run in the Tokyo Marathon last week. He finished 448th in a large field, recording a very creditable time of 2 hours 53 minutes 13 seconds. He was the fifth British runner to finish.
Striders finished second to local rivals Croydon Harriers in an inter-club cross-country match at Lloyd Park on Saturday. Justin Macenhill led Striders home in second place, covering the muddy 10-kilometre course in 42 minutes 16 seconds. Darren Bird was fourth (43.17), Chris Morton eighth (46.15) and Sunjay Bhogal 16th (59.07).
Earlier in the day Ernie Hann gained his second successive win in the Lloyd parkrun, covering the five kilometres in 19 minutes 21 seconds. Veteran Geoff Pennells ran well to place seventh overall and first in the over-50 category (22.32).
