James in among the elite at Dublin marathon
James Bennett, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run in the recent Dublin Marathon. He finished 78th out of more than 12000 finishers, recording a personal best 2 hours 48 minutes 29 seconds, which lifted him to tenth place in Striders’ all-time club rankings.
On Saturday, Striders finished 24th out of 54 teams in the annual Priory Relays, at Reigate. Their fastest leg came from Ernie Hann, who covered the hilly 2.5 mile course in 15 minutes 35 seconds. Krzysztof Klidzia, who had placed second in the Lloyd parkrun earlier in the day, also ran well to record 15 minutes 52. Striders’ other runners were Paul Stanford (17.30), Darren Woods (17.41), Chris Morton (17.46) and Mick Turner (17.50). On the same day five Striders completed the Thames Meander Marathon, led by Tony Ostrowski who ran 3 hours 43 minutes 02 seconds. Striders also had a total of 52 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
