James runs well in pre-marathon test
James Bennett, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run to place fifth out of 465 finishers in the Cranleigh 21-mile road race on Sunday, recording 2 hours 10 minutes 57 seconds. Club colleague Matthew Chapman was 44th (2.30.13) with Mick Turner 138th (2.49.47) Striders’ first woman to finish was Louise Grech who placed 358th overall in 3 hours 24 minutes 13.
On the same day, in the Spitfire 20-mile road race at Dunsfold, Simon Ambrosi placed 73rd out of 767 finishers (2.25.09). Stephen Massey was 136th (2.35.27) and Mark Kelly 150th (2.36.40).
On the previous day Krzysztof Klidzia was fourth out of 138 finishers in the weekly parkrun at Lloyd Park. He covered the undulating five-kilometre course in 19 minutes 41 seconds. Club secretary Chris Morton was seventh (20.36), while Selena Wong was the fifth woman to finish, placing 43rd overall (25.35). Graeme Drysdale was tenth in the Riddlesdown parkrun (19.38). Striders had a total of 30 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
