Lee Flanagan places first at Lloyd Park parkrun
Lee Flanagan, from Striders of Croydon, ran well to place first out of 249 finishers in the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park on Saturday. In hot conditions, he covered the undulating five-kilometre course in 18 minutes 33 seconds, finishing 19 seconds ahead of his nearest rival. Club colleague Rachel Lindley also ran well to be the first woman to finish, placing tenth overall in 20 minutes 55. Selena Wong was the third woman to finish, placing 44th overall (24:35).
Jemma Zakariyyau was the second woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 15th overall (20:51), while Niamh Vincent was the second woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 25th overall (23:13). Steve Corfield was fourth in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (18:58), and Steve Starvis was fourth in the South Norwood parkrun (19:15). Striders had a total of 76 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
This Monday (8th) Striders will be competing in their final Southern Veterans League match of the season, at Croydon Arena. Their men are currently placed third of the eight clubs in the South London Division, while their women are fourth.
