Lee and Iain lead Striders to third place in Surrey League

Striders of Croydon produced a very good team performance to finish third of nine clubs in their first Surrey Cross-Country League Division Two match of the season, at Nork Park on Saturday. Walton won the match with 250 points, ahead of Clapham (375), Striders (422), Tadworth (456), Kingston (459), Epsom (465), Guildford (518), Dorking (556) and Wimbledon (594).
Striders were led by Lee Flanagan who ran well to place 15th of the 129 finishers, covering the undulating five-mile course in 32 minutes 08 seconds. Iain Harrison was close behind in 16th place (32.28), while veteran Krzysztof Klidzia also ran well for 26th (32.59). Darren Bird showed good improvement to finish 32nd (33.31) while triathlete Tyler O’Callaghan was 38th (33.47). Steve Winter made his league debut and did well to place 43rd (33.59). Lee Wadsworth was 59th (34.55), Simon Ambrosi 60th (35.02) and Matthew Chapman 61st (35.10). Team manager Chris Morton completed the scoring team in 73rd (36.20), and Striders also had seven non-scorers.
