Niamh Vincent finishes second in the W35 age-group in the RunThrough 10km in Battersea Park
Niamh Vincent, from Striders of Croydon, had a very good run to finish second in the W35 age-group in the RunThrough 10-kilometre road race in Battersea Park on Saturday. She placed 88th overall out of 592 finishers, recording a personal best of 42 minutes 04 seconds, which lifted her to 13th place in Striders’ all-time women’s rankings.
Also on Saturday, Striders had 75 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. Krzysztof Klidzia was second out of 282 finishers in the Folkestone parkrun (18:04), while Steph Upton was the second woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing tenth overall (23:26). There were third places for Phil Coales in the Crystal Palace parkrun (17:37), Samuel Hansen at the Leazes parkrun in Newcastle (17:59), Andrew Aitken in the South Norwood parkrun (19:39) and Lee Flanagan in the Lloyd parkrun (19:50). Martin Filer was fourth in the Riddlesdown parkrun (20:47), while Molly Haviland was the fourth woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 34th overall (26:22).
On Wednesday Nikki Javan was the sixth woman to finish the RunThrough 10-kilometre race at the Olympic Park in Stratford. She was second in the W35 category, and recorded a personal best of 43 minutes 13 seconds.
On Sunday, John Punt placed 73rd out of 419 finishers in the Valentines 10-kilometre road race at Chessington, recording 42 minutes 53 seconds.
This Sunday (23rd) several Striders will be competing in the Brighton Half-Marathon, while some of the club’s oldest athletes will be competing in the South of England Masters Indoor Championships, at Lee Valley.
