parkrun to 100 miles…
Ally Whitlock, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to be the third woman to finish the Wendover Woods 100-mile race on Saturday. She placed seventh overall, completing the hilly course in 29 hours 44 minutes 57. Only 13 of the 30 starters finished.
Earlier on Saturday, Striders had 24 finishers in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun, which was celebrating the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the National Health Service. Ellyw Evans ran well to be the first woman to finish, placing 28th overall (23:45). Striders’ men were led by Martin Filer who placed second of the 171 finishers (18:50), while Graeme Drysdale was fifth (20:19). Cindy Siu was the fourth woman to finish, placing 38th overall (24:56).
Also on Saturday, Consuelo Kennefick was the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 17th overall (22:53). Erik Schrijnemaekers was second out of 323 finishers in the Thames Path parkrun in Woolwich (18:56). James Rhodes was third out of 429 finishers at the Peel parkrun in Salford (17:16). There were also third places for Luke Burden in the Poolsbrook parkrun in Derbyshire (18:57), and for Lee Flanagan in the Lloyd parkrun (19:53). Striders had a total of 109 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
In the Asics 10K in Westminster on Sunday, Niamh Vincent finished in 43:00 while Stephen Siu ran 48:16.
