Rachel Lindley fifth woman at Dorking 10
Rachel Lindley, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run in the Dorking 10-mile road race on Sunday, which incorporated the Surrey Championships and was the third race in this year’s Surrey Road League. In very hot conditions, she was the fifth woman to finish, recording 66 minutes 18 seconds. Club colleague Michelle O’Mahony was the 56th woman to finish (80:46) with Susanna Lutman completing the scoring trio in 90th (84:23), just one place ahead of Selena Wong (84:33). Adele Boesinger was 111th (90:39) with Yasmin Anderson 118th (91:35) and Jessica Polya 124th (93:02).
Striders’ men were led by veteran Krzysztof Klidzia who placed tenth in the over-50 category and 52nd overall in 64 minutes 49. Steve Massey was 22nd in the over-50 category and 108th overall (69:46) while Peter Laurence completed the scoring trio in 184th (75:02) with James Burree 231st (79:01) and Darren Jackson 262nd (80:39). Striders had a total of 17 finishers.
On the same day James Bennett won the Wimbledon Common Half-Marathon in 77 minutes 03, while on the previous day Lee Flanagan was first in the Lloyd parkrun in 18 minutes 29. Striders had a total of 77 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (34 at Lloyd Park and 43 at other venues).
