Rachel Lindley sets a new club W40 Half-Marathon record
Rachel Lindley, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run in the RunThrough Olympic Park Half-Marathon in Stratford on Sunday. She was the third woman to finish, placing first in the W40 age-group and 46th overall. She set a new club W40 record of 87 minutes 01 second, which was more than seven minutes faster than the previous record, set by Kerry Backshell in 2009. Club colleague James Burree was 169th (97:57) and Michael Smaldon was 198th (99:29).
Also on Sunday, Liam Redmond ran very well to place 28th overall, and fourth in the M40 age-group, in the Southampton Marathon (3:04:23). Nikki Javan was 298th in the Paddock Wood Half-Marathon (99:04). Michael Joseph was 582nd in the London Summer Run 10K (49:47).
Four Striders completed the RunThrough Chase the Sun 10-kilometre race in Hyde Park on Wednesday. Darren Woods placed 30th out of 176 finishers (44:47), while Keith Murkin was 61st (48:09) and Paul Ayers 103rd (51:41). Anna O’Sullivan was the 26th woman to finish, placing 115th overall (54:16).
Rob Lines ran very well to finish first out of 167 runners in the Riddlesdown parkrun on Saturday morning, completing the five-kilometre course in 19 minutes 35 seconds. Martin Filer was fourth (20:10), while Becky Laurence was the fourth woman to finish, placing 40th overall (25:07). Matthew Stone was second in the South Norwood parkrun (18:20). Lee Flanagan was third in the Lloyd parkrun (19:25) with Steve Corfield fourth (19:44) and Simon Ambrosi fifth (20:26). Christopher Finch was fourth out of 351 finishers in the Reigate Priory parkrun (18:56). Striders’ fastest time was recorded by Andrew Aitken who placed eighth out of 1275 finishers in the Bushy parkrun (18:04). Striders totalled 92 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
