Rosenheim League
Striders had 28 competitors in their Rosenheim League match at Tooting on Wednesday. Their women placed third, while their men were fifth. Holly Harrison had an excellent run to set a club women’s 100 metre record of 15.0, placing second in her race. She was also second in the 200 metres (42.3). Jay Brzask-Makiela was second in the women’s hurdles in a new club record of 44.6. Niamh Vincent set a club W40 100 metre record of 16.6, and was also third in the 800 metres (2:48.6). Natalie Ballarin was third in both the women’s discus (17.60) and the hammer (13.06), both of these being club W40 records. Hannah Luffman was third in the 400 metres (109.6). There were fourth places for Sarah Allport in the 1500 metres (8:54.3), Ally Whitlock in the 3000 metres (12:19.9) and Sandra Francis in the long jump (2.76).
For Striders’ men, Max Veglio ran very well to win the 400 metres (59.0). Phil Coales was second in the 800 metres (2:07.4) and third in the 3000 metres (9:29.6). James Rhodes was third in the 1500 metres (4:35.4). There were fifth places for Steve Massey in the 100 metres (15.7), Isaac Thomas in the 200 metres (33.7), Michael Smaldon in the long jump (4.60) and James Harrison in both the discus (15.23) and the hammer (15.20).
Striders had nine finishers in the Elmbridge 10K on Sunday, which was the penultimate race in this year’s Surrey Road League. Tatsuya Okamoto ran very well to finish seventh (34:31). Erik Schrijnemaekers was 61st (38:10), Steve Corfield 63rd (38:14), Jason Gallager 108th (40:26), Tim Lawlor 131st (41:53), Peter Johnson 133rd (42:05), Rotimi Oyegunle 214th (46:51), David Gunaratnam 367th (59:50) and Stuart Hills 400th (63:08).
